In her TEDx talk "How The Brain Has Power Over Our Pain” Dr. Ziegenbein takes on the big topic of chronic pain. She breaks down the chronic pain to its basic parts (including how it is real yet "invisible" - no visible body damage or inflammation). Then she reviews a surprisingly simple set of pain reducing tools based on available scientific evidence showing that degree of our self-efficacy and ability to create safety for our nervous system are among the keys to pain reduction. Martina Ziegenbein MD, is a Board-certified Rheumatologist and the founder of Whole Health Rheumatology of Cape Cod private rheumatology practice. She is passionate about whole health wellness and a mind-body approach to chronic pain. She helps her patients with chronic pain reduce its burden and make their lives better.
In 2021 she started a podcast Winning at Fibromyalgia where she shares information about fibromyalgia and non-medicamentous tools to improve it. She received her medical degree from PJ Safarik University in Slovakia and completed her Internal Medicine Residency training at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, WI. She received her rheumatology training at Boston University Medical Center and subsequently did additional year of lupus research at Johns Hopkins University lupus center. She has been a Rheumatologist since 2007.

Initial Comprehensive Rheumatology Consultation
Length: 75 minutes
Includes:
Initial appointment to review patient’s history, prior records, comprehensive exam, and outline of likely diagnosis, proposed labs/images if applicable and treatment recommendations
Any communication and coordination of your care with your other physicians and health care providers.
Emails and texting communication directly with Dr. Ziegenbein.
Per visit
Length: 45 minutes
Includes:
Office or telemedicine visit, to follow up on any rheumatic issues, perform evaluation and formulate an ongoing diagnosis and treatment plan.
Any communication and coordination of your care with your other physicians and health care providers before and after the visit.
Emails or portal messages directly with Dr. Ziegenbein.
*Any patient interested in regular follow up visits must undergo and pay the initial consultation fee (699 USD, see above). This fee will be waived to all patients who are currently established with Dr. Ziegenbein at Cape Cod Health Rheumatology (seen within the last 12 months as of 11/1/2023)
Per Month
Includes:
Up to 4 comprehensive rheumatology office visits (in person or virtual) per year
Any communication and coordination of your care with your other physicians and health care providers.
Emails or portal messages directly with Dr. Ziegenbein in between visits.

Her initial examination was extremely thorough. Not only did she precisely diagnose my pain, Dr. Ziegenbein recognized on exam that I had a problem with my hip. Dr. Ziegenbein is fully committed to ensure a personalized, attentive, compassionate care for each patient of the Whole Health Rheumatology of Cape Cod. She has over 17 years of experience as a clinical community Rheumatologist. She treats each patient as if they were her own family member. As a patient with rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia herself, she has first hand experience of dealing with pain. She gives her patients what she appreciates in receiving from her physicians - expertise, attention, time, care and hope.
Transparent Fees
If you decide to come for an initial consultation, the fee covers your first and second visit.
Should you choose to continue with Dr. Ziegenbein, your membership fees cover up to 5 office visits per year (in person or telehealth), Dr. Ziegenbein’s availability to you via patient portal, messages and phone calls in reference to various questions you might have regarding your care, her availability to communicate with your other health care providers and lastly, coordinating and ordering lab tests and imaging studies as need be and required for your health condition.
If you choose the option of individual follow up visit payments, the fee will cover a comprehensive Rheumatology evaluation on the day of service, communication with other health care providers for up to 2 weeks after the office visit and direct communication with Dr. Ziegenbein via email or portal messages for up to 2 weeks after the visit. Communication on an ongoing, as-needed basis is reserved for membership patients.
