In her TEDx talk "How The Brain Has Power Over Our Pain” Dr. Ziegenbein takes on the big topic of chronic pain. She breaks down the chronic pain to its basic parts (including how it is real yet "invisible" - no visible body damage or inflammation). Then she reviews a surprisingly simple set of pain reducing tools based on available scientific evidence showing that degree of our self-efficacy and ability to create safety for our nervous system are among the keys to pain reduction. Martina Ziegenbein MD, is a Board-certified Rheumatologist and the founder of Whole Health Rheumatology of Cape Cod private rheumatology practice. She is passionate about whole health wellness and a mind-body approach to chronic pain. She helps her patients with chronic pain reduce its burden and make their lives better.
In 2021 she started a podcast Winning at Fibromyalgia where she shares information about fibromyalgia and non-medicamentous tools to improve it. She received her medical degree from PJ Safarik University in Slovakia and completed her Internal Medicine Residency training at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, WI. She received her rheumatology training at Boston University Medical Center and subsequently did additional year of lupus research at Johns Hopkins University lupus center. She has been a Rheumatologist since 2007.
